When your whole team is distributed, accountability needs to be deliberate
Nova Imperium runs structured accountability programmes for remote teams whose members are spread across Ireland and working without the natural cohesion of a shared office.
What happens to team accountability when everyone goes remote?
In an office, team accountability is partly ambient. People can see each other working. Informal conversations happen naturally. The physical proximity creates a low-level social contract that keeps everyone oriented toward shared goals.
When teams go fully remote, that ambient accountability disappears. What replaces it is often a mix of scheduled video calls, project management tools and manager check-ins — all of which are useful but none of which replicate the social texture of a shared workspace.
The gap that opens is not about technology or process. It is about the human dimension of working alongside people who share your context and who notice your presence and absence.
How does the team programme differ from individual cohorts?
Dedicated Team Cohorts
Rather than joining a mixed cohort of strangers, your team operates as its own cohort. Sessions are structured around your team's specific goals, working rhythms and shared context. The facilitator works with your team's particular dynamic.
Coordinated Scheduling
Team sessions are scheduled to fit your team's existing calendar. We work around your existing meeting cadence rather than adding conflict. Sessions are typically sixty to ninety minutes and run weekly or fortnightly depending on team size and need.
Team Goal Alignment
Individual goal-setting within team sessions can be aligned with team-level objectives. This allows individual accountability to serve collective outcomes rather than running parallel to them. The facilitator helps maintain that alignment across sessions.
Manager Briefings
At the start of a team programme, we meet with the relevant team lead or manager to understand context, objectives and any sensitivities. Periodic briefings can be arranged at agreed intervals. Individual session content remains confidential to participants.
Programme Review Cycles
At the end of each programme cycle, we provide a structured review of how the sessions have functioned and what adjustments would improve the next cycle. The programme adapts to your team rather than requiring your team to adapt to a fixed format.
Facilitator Continuity
The same facilitator works with your team across the full programme. Changing facilitators mid-programme disrupts the trust and group dynamic that makes sessions effective. Continuity is built into our team programme design.
What kinds of teams does this programme suit?
The team programme works well for remote-first teams of between four and twelve people who are working on ongoing projects rather than one-off deliverables. It suits teams where individual autonomy is high and direct supervision is limited — consultancy teams, agency teams, research teams, and distributed operational teams.
It is less suited to teams with very high turnover, teams working on short-term projects where continuity is not possible, or teams where the primary challenge is process or tooling rather than accountability and motivation.
If you are unsure whether your team situation is a good fit, the most straightforward thing to do is get in touch and describe your context. We will give you an honest assessment.
